The Whispering Map

A folded map turned up on the promise stone, and it whispered soft hints when you held it close. A new friend named Theo arrived, quick and eager, ready to dash toward the first exciting path the map mentioned. Milo felt curious too, but he remembered how the lantern path had split in two, and how choosing well had taken a moment.

Lumi suggested they listen to the whole whisper before choosing. Theo huffed, then leaned in with the others. The map hushed about a shortcut that was really a puddle-trap, and pointed instead to a gentle slope. Curiosity, it turned out, worked best with patient ears.

They followed the slope and found the rainbow-seed patch again, resting under the moon. Theo grinned, a little calmer now, and promised to listen first next time. Milo tucked the map away, glad they had listened before choosing, and the night felt wide and friendly.
