The Rainbow Seeds

The next evening Milo carried Lumi back to the garden and met Nora, kneeling by a bare patch of earth with a shy, careful smile. Nora had a pouch of rainbow seeds but was not sure they would ever grow. Milo remembered how good it had felt to be helped the night before, and offered to plant them together.

They pressed each seed down gently, one small kindness at a time. Pip remembered Milo from the lantern path and came to sit close, patting the soil with tiny paws. Lumi glowed over the patch like a little sun, and suggested they name the row so it would feel cared for.

Nora was still unsure, and Milo said that small kindness has a way of growing, even slower than seeds. They tied a ribbon on a stick to mark the spot. Walking home, Nora smiled a braver smile, and the garden felt like the start of a friendship.
