The Lantern Path

Milo found a small silver lantern in the moonlit garden, and a soft glow uncurled from inside it like a friend just waking up. The glow had a name, Lumi, and a gentle voice. Tonight the task felt simple and big at the same time: find the quiet hill before bedtime. Milo was excited, but a small flutter of worry fluttered along too.

Lumi did not rush ahead. Lumi suggested one slow breath, and then a plan made of small, manageable steps. Where the lantern path split in two, Milo named the worried feeling out loud and asked Lumi for help choosing. That asking felt brave, and the right path seemed to lean toward them.

Partway up they met Pip, a tiny creature who had lost the way home. Milo and Lumi paused to walk Pip to a warm burrow first. Then the quiet hill appeared at last, silver and calm. Milo yawned, proud that asking for help had carried them, and Pip, all the way there.
