The Snow Letter

A soft, early snow settled on the meadow, and Ava sat by the window remembering the day at the river, when Milo had shared a calming breath and shown her she belonged. She wanted to say thank you, and truly mean it.

With a feather pen she wrote a small snow-letter and folded it into a paper bird. Lumi warmed the ink so it would not freeze. It is a little thing, Ava worried, but Milo had shown her that small kindness grows, so she sent it anyway.

When Milo read it, his heart went warm, and so did Ava's for having said it. A sincere thank-you, they found, warms both the one who gives it and the one who receives it. The snow glittered like quiet applause as everyone grew sleepy.
